LinguaeLive is an educational endeavour that is free to the academic user. Queen’s University provided seed money and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada has followed up with grants.
Upon starting at Queen’s, Jennifer Ruth Hosek started an exchange between her Anglophone students of German and Germanophone students of English at Martin-Luther-Universität, Germany. Mayu Takasaki, instructor of Japanese at Queen’s and a collaborating instructor of English at Fukuoka Jo Gakuin University, Japan were doing the same. These pilot projects were so effective that Jennifer created the web platform LinguaeLive.ca with the aim of making peer-to-peer intercultural telecollaboration available to every student.
